In 2009,
she founded BullyAlarm.com - a self-funded, non-profit committed
to raising awareness about the "social terrorism"
known as bullying through their campaign to See It – Say It
– Stop It! Bullying is a behavior not a person.
In Dec, 2009, the NJ State Commission on Bullying found that
policies are not enough to combat this problem – we must move
from policies to programs that effectively empower us to produce
positive outcomes.
On August 11, 2010, the Department of Education held the first
summit on the issue of bullying in our schools. She was excited
at the prospect that this would begin the national movement
to proactively approach this issue - but all she heard was the
need to collect more data and do more research! This was frusterating
to say the very least! Meanwhile, the bully’s targets suffer
daily harassment and indignation causing long-term personal
effects that impact society as a whole. |
